Swiss banking secrecy is considered
a civil right in Switzerland and an essential part of the
individual's privacy. Whether an individual is Swiss or a
foreigner using financial services in Switzerland one's personal
information is considered secret.
Swiss financial institutions like ACM have the obligation
to protect its customer's account details with utmost confidentiality
from any and all third parties. Account confidentiality is
considered a valuable constituent of financial business in
Switzerland.
The Federal government can however in the case of funds suspected
to originate from criminal activities bypass the banking secrecy
act of 1934 and investigate suspected accounts. ACM complies
with financial due diligence procedures in order to avoid
any such occurrence.
Swiss citizens are currently voting to include the right to
banking secrecy in the Swiss constitution. |
